Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct a comprehensive street dog census across all 67 wards in the city from September 17 to 24.
The enumeration will be carried out daily from 5 am to 7 pm, covering all streets and lanes under BMC’s jurisdiction.
The primary objectives of the census include improving street dog health and welfare, implementing effective sterilisation programmes, preventing the spread of diseases such as rabies, reducing traffic-related incidents involving stray dogs, and obtaining accurate data on dog population density.
BMC officials have appealed to citizens to cooperate voluntarily and support the initiative.
