Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Tuesday warned of strict action against fertiliser dealers found supplying agricultural inputs for ganja cultivation.
Singh Deo said fertilisers were meant to be supplied to farmers for agricultural purposes and not for cultivating ganja. He said the government had taken note of allegations that some fertiliser dealers were supplying inputs for illegal marijuana cultivation.
“It has come to light that some fertiliser dealers are supplying fertilisers for marijuana cultivation, and action will be taken against those found involved,” Singh Deo said.
The minister’s warning comes amid allegations that fertilisers meant for agricultural use were being diverted for ganja cultivation.
