Student Death In Mayurbhanj Ashram School: Headmaster Suspended; CM Announces Rs 3L Aid

Bhubaneswar: The headmaster of Kakabandh Ashram School in Rasagobindapur tehsil of Mayurbhanj district has been suspended following the death of a student due to suspected food poisoning at the school hostel.

The deceased has been identified as Rupali Beshra, daughter of Durga Beshra from Rasagobindapur tehsil.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of Rupali and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased. Rupali Beshra.

Expressing solidarity with the grieving family, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs 3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of the deceased.

According to reports, the student identified as Rupali Beshra died while undergoing treatment after consuming allegedly contaminated or stale food at the residential school. The incident occurred on Sunday when 146 boys and girls residing in the school hostel fell ill after eating stale food served in the hostel mess. All the affected students were immediately rushed to the local Community Health Centre. Out of them, 60 students, who were in critical condition, were later shifted to Baripada PRM Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, local MLA and Odisha’s Minister for Housing & Urban Development, visited the Community Health Centre late on Sunday night. He met the sick students and their worried parents, spoke with doctors, and reviewed the situation on the ground. The Minister directed the District Collector to constitute two separate teams to inspect the ground situation, and submit a detailed report on the circumstances that led to such a large number of students falling ill.
