Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday near the Paradip lighthouse when a 19-year-old student went missing after being swept away by strong sea waves while bathing with his friends.

Sheikh Aman, a college student from Kendrapara, was on a recreational visit to Paradip with six of his classmates.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Paradip Marine Police Station officials launched a joint search operation to locate the missing student. CISF personnel used powerboats to scour the area, while police officials provided support to the rescue efforts.

According to locals, students were unaware of the danger as the sea near Paradip becomes rough after 12 pm.

Despite warning signs near the beach advising against bathing in the sea, the students ignored it and took a dip which resulted in the tragic incident.

The search operation is underway to locate Aman.
