Jajpur: Vyasanagar Autonomous College has cancelled students union elections due to unavoidable situation on campus.
The college issued a notification regarding cancellation of students union polls after unanimous decision by Election Committee and Academic Committee. The college will remain closed from 1 PM today until further order.
Students have been asked to vacate hostels by tomorrow morning. Tension ran high at Vyasanagar Autonomous College after bombs were hurled at Principal’s room and boys’ hostel late last night. The incident comes just a day after notification for college elections was issued.
The late-night bombing ahead of elections has created an atmosphere of fear on campus. College authorities and students were reportedly scared following the incident.
Meanwhile, UNS Mahavidyalaya, Khairabad-Mugpal in Jajpur district has also cancelled campus elections.
A notification issued by the college stated that “+3 Students Union Election is cancelled as per unanimous decision of staff association members (both teaching and non-teaching) due to unavoidable situation and circumstances in the college campus.”
