Bhubaneswar: A woman died after being stung by a swarm of wasps at Jaleswarpada village under Kakatpur police limits in Puri district, on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Droupadi Mohanty.
According to sources, Mohanty was trying to break a wasp nest behind her house when hundreds of wasps suddenly attacked her.
Hearing her scream, family members rushed her to the Bangurigaon Community Health Centre for treatment. After initial treatment, Draupadi was discharged from the hospital.
However, her condition deteriorated during the night. She was again taken to the CHC where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
