Sub-Registrar Office Jr Clerk Caught Taking Bribe, Vigilance Launches DA Probe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday apprehended Debajani Kar, a junior clerk in the office of the Sub-Registrar, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The bribe was taken from an individual for the execution of a Registered Sale Deed (RSD) for a subplot.

An official press release stated that the entire bribe amount was recovered from Kar’s possession and subsequently seized by the Vigilance team.

Following the trap, the anti-corruption agency launched simultaneous searches at two locations associated with Kar to investigate disproportionate assets (DA).

A case has been registered against Kar at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Amendment Act.
