Sonepur: A farmer of Tuniamund village under Dunguripalli police limits in Subarnapur district allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on Wednesday.
The deceased identified as Bhagaban Juadi was under loan burden. He was under severe mental stress over the repayment of loans due to repeated crop failure.
Fellow villagers who saw Bhagabani lying in his field in a critical condition initially rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Dunguripalli. He was referred to VIMSAR Burla after his health condition deteriorated.
However, Bhagaban died while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR Burla today.
“He had taken loans from banks and was under terrible mental stress. He was tense as the paddy crop had failed. On Tuesday, while on a visit to the field he consumed poison,” stated Bikram Juadi, deceased farmer Bhagaban Juadi’s son.
Bhagaban’s brother Birendra Juadi also said that his brother had taken loans and was under mental stress due to repeated crop failure.
“He had taken loans from banks. He had two consecutive crop failures. He committed suicide under loan burden,” said Birendra.
