Sundargarh: A woman allegedly killed her husband by strangling him to death in Sundargarh district. The incident occurred at Hari Om Colony, near Mission Road, under the Sundargarh Town police limits.
According to reports, the victim, Dhruv Kerketa, and his wife, Urmila Kerketa, were living at a rented house in the colony. Urmila allegedly killed her husband this morning and then took him to a nearby hospital, trying to conceal the murder by attributing his death to other causes. However, the hospital employees suspected foul play and informed the police.
Upon being informed, police took Urmila into custody and interrogated her. Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder may be linked to an extramarital affair. Urmila allegedly had an illicit relationship with another youth, which led to frequent quarrels between the couple.
During interrogation, Urmila reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that two youths had come to their residence the previous night and made his husband take sleeping pills. She then allegedly strangled her husband to death with the help of these two youths. However, the identities of these two youths are yet to be determined.
The Sundargarh Town police, meanwhile, detained Urmila and two youths, including Urmila’s lover, in connection with the crime. The accused were absconding from their homes but were tracked down and apprehended by the police.
