Bhubaneswar: In a bid to maintain discipline and decorum, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has introduced a new dress code for servitors at the Ananda Bazaar.
As per the decision of Suara Mahasuara Niyog, Supakara servitors involved in the sale of Mahaprasad will wear saffron-coloured uniforms from December 25. The decision aims to bring uniformity and a sense of professionalism among the servitors.
Suara Mahasuara Niyog took this decision in this regard with the approval of the SJTA.
Earlier, the SJTA deployed a team of 20 retired army personnel at Ananda Bazaar on the temple’s premises to enhance security and maintain sanctity.
The ex-army personnel, dressed in civil attire, will work in two shifts – 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM – to oversee the activities of servitors and devotees. Their primary objective is to ensure the sale of fresh Mahaprasad, monitor the behaviour of servitors, and maintain decorum in the area.
In another significant move, servitors involved in the sale of Anna Mahaprasad and Sukhila Mahaprasad have been allowed to engage one assistant each to help them in their duties.
These measures are expected to bring more discipline and organization to the Ananda Bazaar, enhancing the overall experience of devotees visiting the temple.
