Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer Suresh Devadatta Singh, who replaced Sanjeev Panda as the chief of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, took charge on Monday afternoon. Singh previously served as the Additional D.G. of Police, CID-CB, Cuttack.
Suresh Devdatta Singh, a 1998-batch IPS officer, was transferred to the new post via a notification issued by the Odisha Home Department on Sunday evening. A guard of honor was given at the Police Commissioner’s headquarters. Later, he took charge form Sanjeev Panda, who has been transferred to the role of ADG, Training and Director at BPSPA.
After taking charge of the CP, Devadatta Singh said that the police will take a tough and soft approach in dealing with people and criminals, respectively. The police will be sensitive to the people coming to the police stations and justice will be done as much as possible within the bounds of the law.
On the other hand, outgoing Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda spoke to the media about the achievements in the last eight months. He said that the past few days were very challenging. “We managed the election well with the help of all the officials. We have recovered a lot of stolen goods. Around 2000, we have seized gold chains and thousands of bikes.”
