Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic turn of events, Suniti Mund, who was suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for anti-party activities, faced opposition from women workers at the party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar today.
Mund, the former mayor candidate of the BJP for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) election, visited the party office to meet the state BJP president, despite being suspended for less than three days. However, she was confronted by women workers who accused her of speaking to the media against the party.
The incident occurred during the state-level membership launch program-2024, attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP State President Manmohan Samal. The women workers demanded that Mund leave the office, citing party rules that prohibit suspended members from entering the premises.
One of the party workers said, “she (Suneeti Mundu) has been suspended by the state president for anti-party activities. Despite being suspended, she visited the party office. Initially, we did not oppose her. But, she was speaking to media inside the party office against the party leadership. So we protested her and requested her to go out of the office. However, she didn’t pay heed to our requests,”
Mund claimed she had done nothing wrong and was unaware of the reasons behind her suspension. She alleged that she was simply trying to meet the party president and was not given a chance to express her grievances.
