Bhubaneswar: A Swachhata pledge and cleanliness drives were held at Lok Seva Bhawan here on Tuesday as part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva – 2026” campaign initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department of the Odisha government organised the Swachhata pledge, which was administered by Chief Secretary Anu Garg to officers and employees gathered at the department premises.
The officers and employees pledged to remain committed to cleanliness, follow the vision of Mahatma Gandhi on cleanliness, make cleanliness a part of their daily lives and contribute their time towards maintaining clean surroundings.
Following the pledge ceremony, the officers and employees, along with Principal Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department Suresh Kumar Vashishth, participated in a cleanliness drive organised as part of the campaign.
Separately, the Finance Department organised a cleanliness drive and Shramdaan (voluntary labour) programme at the Lok Seva Bhawan premises. Senior officers and employees of the department participated in the programme and collected waste from the premises.
During the programme, the participants also took a Swachhata pledge and committed themselves to keeping their surroundings clean and making cleanliness a regular habit in their daily lives.
The campaign aims to create greater awareness about cleanliness and social responsibility and encourage people to contribute towards the vision of building a Viksit Bharat through a Clean India.
