Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, a two-week Festival of Cleanliness and Community Spirit running from 17th September to 2nd October 2025. This initiative aims to intensify cleanliness efforts across railway stations, trains, offices, workshops, depots, hospitals, and residential colonies under ECoR’s jurisdiction.
On the opening day, Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, administered the Swachhata pledge to officers and staff, highlighting the significance of individual responsibility in upholding cleanliness standards. Employees pledged to keep their surroundings clean and to motivate the public to join the movement. Leading by example, Funkwal participated in Shramdaan activities at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, accompanied by senior officials and staff.
The campaign was simultaneously launched across all ECoR Divisions, with officers and employees reaffirming their dedication to cleanliness and public awareness through Swachhata pledge ceremonies. Comprehensive cleanliness drives were conducted at various stations throughout the Zone, aiming to foster a cleaner and healthier environment. This wide-reaching campaign seeks to inspire collective action and build momentum for a clean and green India.
The theme of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, “Swachhotsav,” seamlessly blends the ethos of cleanliness with celebration, turning sanitation drives into inclusive community festivals. The campaign encourages people from all walks of life to take joint ownership of cleanliness while recognising the vital contributions of sanitation workers.
ECoR employees have pledged to dedicate 100 hours annually to cleanliness activities and to motivate at least 100 others to do likewise. East Coast Railway remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness across all Divisions by fostering participation from passengers, stakeholders, and the community at large. Through united efforts, ECoR continues its journey towards a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.
