Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Modi immersed himself in the Odia culture by savouring the Odia delicacy ‘Kheeri’ while initiating the ‘Gruha Prabesha’ ceremony for PM Awas beneficiaries at Shabara Sahi area in Gadakana village here today.

Apart from enjoying signature Odia delicacy at a beneficiary’s home and offering prayers to Lord Jagannath, PM Modi talked to PM Awas beneficiaries during his visit.

According to sources, Modi arrived at Bhubaneswar airport at 10:50 am and headed straight to Gadakana where people were eagerly waiting for his arrival.

Upon arrival, PM Modi inaugurated the homes of 20 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The beneficiaries included 10 beneficiaries, 8 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and 2 beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi Scheme. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi also joined him.

On this occasion, Modi visited the home of Antaryami Nayak, a beneficiary of the PM Awas Yojana, and savoured the traditional Odia sweet dish, Kheeri, prepared at his residence. Modi spent some time at Nayak’s home, interacting with his family members and blessing the children. He also performed puja there. Afterwards, Modi headed to the Janata Maidan, where he was scheduled to launch the Subhadra Yojana.

That apart, PM Modi spent over half an hour interacting with the beneficiaries, discussing their experiences and concerns. He also inquired about beneficiaries’ economic well-being and whether they were benefiting from various government schemes.

PM Modi also encouraged everyone to participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative by planting a tree.

A large police force was deployed in Gadakana for the smooth conduct of the event with Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda monitoring the situation.

It is pertinent to mention that this visit was part of his 74th birthday celebrations, which coincided with the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ initiative.
