Bhubaneswar: In a significant step toward speedy justice, the Bhubaneswar ADJ POCSO Court has convicted and sentenced a rape accused within just 89 days of the crime being reported.
The case involved the rape of a 14-year-old girl in the Lingaraj police station area under Commissionerate Police. The incident was reported on June 4, following which police swiftly arrested the accused, identified as Pradyumna Mallia.
Based on witness testimonies and evidence, the court found Mallia guilty and sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI). Additionally, the court directed that the survivor be provided with a compensation of ₹1 lakh.
