Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended a Tahasildar while he was allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 45,000. According to the Vigilance, Prithviraj Mandal, Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar of Begunia was held for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 45,000.
The bribe was demanded from a complainant for issuance of conversion patta. Based on this complaint, a trap was laid and the Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of his house here at Kalinga Vihar.
“The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mandal and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Mandal gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him,” the Vigilance stated.
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case in this connection and investigating further.
