Bhubaneswar: Police in Sundargarh district have arrested a government high school teacher on charges of allegedly raping a minor girl student.
The accused has been identified as Tapas Kumar Badhei, a teacher at Haladikudar Government High School in the Bonaigarh area. He was apprehended by Lahunipada police following a complaint lodged by the survivor.
According to police sources, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the student under the pretext of assisting her with corrections to her Aadhaar card. During the course of the investigation, allegations have also surfaced that he may have sexually harassed several other girl students of the school.
After his arrest, Badhei was sent for medical examination. Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the matter to verify the allegations and identify any additional victims.
