Malkangiri: A six-month-old girl was killed on Monday during a gun fire between Maoists and security forces in a forest region under Gangalur police station in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri of Odisha, police said.
The child’s mother also sustained bullet injuries in the cross fire.
Two District Reserve Guards were also injured in the firing by the Maoists.
A police team took the injured woman and jawans to the hospital for medical assistance, said Bijapur ASP Vairabh Banker.
The woman was carrying the child on the road in the jungle when gun battle was going on. The woman was hit with bullet by the naxals, he added.
Bhairamgarh area committee, Chandranna, was also injured in the clash, Banker informed.
The combing operations have been intensified in the area to look for the Maoists involved in the incident.
