Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Paradip following the death of a home Guard on duty in a road accident on Friday night.
The deceased identified as Rajan Pradhan was on duty at Dochhaki in Paradip. A speeding truck ran over him killing him on the spot.
He was working in the Lock police station.
On receiving the news, the police arrived at the spot and sent the body for autopsy.
Later, hundreds of locals from Balidia village arrived at the scene and created ruckus demanding adequate compensation. The villagers blocked the road and threatened to continue the stir till the demands were met.
As a result, vehicular traffic was severely hit as trucks and buses were stranded on both sides of the road.
Senior administrative and police officials reached the spot and tried to pacify the aggrieved people.
