Baragada: Tension prevailed at Jamla Panchayat Higher Secondary School under Padmapur sub-division of Bargada district over alleged collection of re-admission fees from students.
Education is a fundamental right and the government is taking various steps to make education accessible so that no one is deprived of it. However, a controversy has erupted at Jamla Panchayat Higher Secondary School over fee collection. As per allegations, the school authorities collected money from Plus Two second-year students in the name of re-admission.
Citing the government’s free education system, the students had requested the college authorities to refund the amount, but the money is yet to be returned, they alleged. In protest, students today staged a dharna in front of the institution. They demanded immediate refund of the collected money and appropriate action against those responsible for the incident.
The incident has raised questions over the fee collection process of the educational institution and compliance with government norms.
Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations, the college authorities said that the government has not refunded us the money. If the government gives us, we will give it to the students. Otherwise, if there is money in the college fund, we will refund it from there.
