Bhubaneswar: The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Odisha have achieved a landmark success, highlighting the transformative impact of quality education in tribal regions. In a remarkable achievement, three alumni of EMRS have cleared the Odisha Civil Services Examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), marking a proud moment for the state’s tribal education system.

Among the achievers is Nilima Kumari Nayak of the Gond tribe from Keonjhar district, who secured the 194th rank. An alumna of EMRS Ranki (2017 batch), she is currently serving as an Assistant Labour Officer. Born to a retired Hindi teacher and a school matron, her success stands as an inspiring example for tribal students aspiring to enter public service.

Another notable achiever is Krushna Chandra Hembram of the Santal tribe from Keonjhar, who secured the 185th rank. A 2017 pass-out of EMRS Rampilo, he is presently working as a school teacher at EMRS Bhawanipur. Despite facing personal tragedy after losing both parents, he demonstrated remarkable resilience to pursue his goal of serving society through civil services.

Also joining the list of achievers is Keshaba Majhi of the Bhatra tribe from Nabarangpur district, who secured the 182nd rank. A graduate of EMRS Hirli (2017 batch), he is currently employed as a teacher. Hailing from a modest farming family, his achievement reflects his determination and dedication to public service.

The success of these three candidates underscores the effectiveness of the EMRS initiative in nurturing talent from remote and tribal areas.

The system continues to play a pivotal role in empowering students to overcome socio-economic barriers and excel in competitive examinations, thereby contributing to inclusive development in Odisha.
