Bhubaneswar: Three members of a family died after consuming poison at Palibandha village under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased individuals include a 40-year-old mother, her 16-year-old daughter, and 22-year-old son.
According to reports, the incident came to light when a neighbour visited the deceased’s home in the early morning and found the doors closed. After repeated knocking, there was no response, the neighbour broke into the house with the help of others. To their utter surprise, they found the three family members lying unconscious.
The bodies were immediately taken to the Chhatrapur Hospital and later shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where they were declared dead by doctors.
The reason behind the deaths is suspected to be a family dispute, and preliminary investigations suggest that the three family members consumed pesticides to end their lives.
Upon being informed, police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further details will be revealed after the post-mortem report is received.
