Bhubaneswar: Three persons, including two women and a man, were killed and five others sustained varying degrees of injuries when a speeding truck overturned and collided with an auto-rickshaw near Kodinga under Raighar police station in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday afternoon.
While the injured have been admitted to a local hospital, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, 10 people, including a few women, were travelling by an auto-rickshaw at around 4.00 pm on Sunday. They were all campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the region. As the auto-rickshaw approached Kodinga, a speeding truck coming from the opposite side collided with the auto killing three passengers on the spot. Five others sustained critical injuries and have been admitted to Kodinga Community Health Centre.
On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The police also seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the incident.
