Dhenkanal/Bhawanipatna: Three persons have been killed in separate incidents in elephant attacks in Odisha during the last 24 hours.
While two persons were killed in a tusker attack in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district, while a woman was trampled to death by a wild pachyderm in Kalahandi district.
In the first incident, the deceased were identified as Alekh Naik of Khalpal village and Bari Naik of Gandtela Sahir in Dhenkanal. According to reports, Alekh was attacked by the elephant in the backyard of this house when he was going to answer nature’s call early on Saturday morning. Bari Naik was killed by another elephant when he tried to chase it away from his village this morning.
The Forest officials have started an investigation at the scenes.
In another incident, a 52-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in the Kalahandi district on Friday.
According to police, the woman was attacked by a pachyderm while she was plucking cotton in her field in Bagpur village. She died on the spot.
