Baripada: Authorities of Similipal Tiger Reserve (North) have arrested three persons for illegal possession of wildlife articles.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dasmat Murmu (43), Shankar Murmu (56), and Pandu Soren (38). All three are residents of Jamudiha and Hatigoda under Thakurmunda police station in Mayurbhanj district.
During search operations conducted at their houses and premises, the forest team seized 11 pieces of elephant bones, seven bows, seven arrows, one axe, one spade, one plastic bag, and eight bundles of bird traps.
The accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. They were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Mayurbhanj, and were later remanded to judicial custody.
