Bhubaneswar: Security arrangements have been beefed up in the capital city ahead of the Budget Session 2023, which begins here on Tuesday. Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal reviewed the three-tier security arrangements along with ADG Law and Order Radha Krishna Sharma, Intelligence Bureau Director Sanjeev Panda, Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi, and Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh on Monday.
Talking to the media after the review, DGP Bansal said that a three-tier security will be in place throughout the Budget Session, which will be conducted in two phases from February 21 to April 6.
Altogether 30 platoons of police force will be deployed around the Assembly building. Besides, two DCPs, 10 Additional DCPs and 11 ACPs will be present in the high security zone to prevent any untoward incident.
The inner tier of security will be looked after the Special Branch, while the Commissionerate Police will be in charge of the two outer layers. Two Special Tactical Units, dog squads, and Fire Services personnel will be pressed into service round-the-clock, the DGP said. Five control rooms have been set up in the city to ensure smooth functioning of the police.
Special attention will be given to Lower PMG Square – the site for various agitational programmes, and traffic will be diverted around the Assembly building to avoid any problem. The Commissionerate Police has already issued an advisory regarding traffic control during the Budget Session.
The Budget Session will commence with the Governor Ganeshi Lal’s address to the House on February 21 and Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari is slated to present the state Budget for the year 2023-24 in the House on February 24.
The Budget Session is scheduled to be held in two phases this year. The first phase of the session will be conducted from February 21 to March 1 and the second from March 10 to April 6.
