Debagada: A three-year-old boy died after the wall of his house collapsed due to heavy rain in Belamunda village under Riamal police limits of Debagada district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ryan Kullu, son of Rajen Kullu of the same village. According to family members, Ryan was going out of his house with an umbrella when the wall suddenly gave way.
The child was crushed under the debris. Family members rushed to rescue him and immediately took him to the nearby Kansar Community Health Center. However, doctors declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, officials from Kansar police outpost reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and started further investigation.
Heavy rainfall in the region over the past two days has led to several incidents of wall and roof collapses. District administration has urged residents, especially in kutcha houses, to remain alert and move to safer places.
