Bhubaneswar: Three young men drowned after being swept away by strong sea currents at Chandrabhaga Beach in Puri district on Sunday.

Two of the victims hailed from Bhubaneswar, while the third was from Cuttack district.

According to reports, the three were bathing near the Eco Retreat spot when the powerful currents pulled them into deeper waters.

Alerted by tourists on the beach, the lifeguard team promptly initiated a rescue operation. During the search, the body of one victim was recovered and immediately rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Within half an hour, the remaining two were also rescued and taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
