Bhubaneswar: A woman was rescued from the Mahanadi River near Chaurpur in Sambalpur on Sunday following an intense search operation by the fire brigade.
The woman’s parental home is in Remed, Sambalpur, while her in-laws’ residence is in Sunapali.
According to reports, the woman is suspected of attempting suicide following domestic disputes with her husband. She jumped into the river and local residents witnessed the incident and promptly alerted the fire services.
The rescue team responded swiftly, pulling the woman out of the river and rushing her to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for initial treatment.
As her health condition deteriorated, she was later shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla for advanced care.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident based on preliminary reports and statements from the family.
