Berhampur: In a shocking incident, three youths were allegedly attacked with sharp weapons at Panchama village under Golanthara police station limits on the outskirts of Berhampur city in Ganjam district on Wednesday.

According to reports, a group of miscreants hacked the trio with swords, reportedly due to previous enmity. The injured have been identified as Bhagaban Mandal, Prabhakar Pradhan, and Lipun Pradhan — all residents of the village.

The victims sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for treatment. Their condition is said to be critical.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at Golanthara police station alleging the involvement of some local youths. Police have launched an investigation and are trying to ascertain the exact motive behind the attack.

Tension prevailed in the village after the incident, while security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further escalation.

Further details are awaited.
