Baripada: In a tragic road accident on Friday, three youths lost their lives on the spot after their motorcycle collided head-on with a bus on National Highway-220 near Rani Bandh under the jurisdiction of Rairangpur Town Police Station in Mayurbhanj district.
According to preliminary information, the bus, identified as ‘Shree Durga’, was travelling from Rairangpur towards Jashipur. Meanwhile, three youths were riding a motorcycle from the opposite direction at high speed. While attempting to overtake a truck, the biker reportedly lost control, causing the motorcycle to crash into the oncoming bus.
The impact of the collision threw the riders off the motorcycle. The bike, along with the rider, got trapped under the bus and was crushed, resulting in instant death. All three youths succumbed to their injuries at the accident site.
Their identities are yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Further details are awaited.
