Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday evening issued a nowcast yellow warning for Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar city, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds over the next two to three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm activity with lightning and winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places in the district.
The warning, issued at 7:45 pm, urged residents to remain alert and closely monitor weather conditions for any deterioration.
The IMD advised people to move to safer locations if necessary and take adequate precautions to protect themselves from lightning strikes and strong winds.
The yellow warning signifies the need for heightened awareness and preparedness as localized weather disturbances may impact normal activities in affected areas.
