Thunderstorm With Lightning Likely In 17 Odisha Dists During Next 24 Hrs, IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, and Bolangir during the next 24 hours,  the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned in its midday weather bulletin.

Similarly, heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore during the same period, the bulletin added.

Besides, hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, the bulletin further added.

The weather agency has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for these districts.

Further light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over North Odisha.

The IMD has said that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during next 4-5 days.
