Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh nowcast warning, alerting residents of nine districts in Odisha about continued light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next three hours.
As per nowcast warning issued at 7:30 am, the affected districts include Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Dhenkanal. Residents in these areas are likely to experience intermittent spells of rainfall with thunder and lightning activity. While the intensity is expected to remain generally light to moderate, isolated pockets may witness sudden heavy showers along with gusty winds.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors as much as possible during this period, avoid open fields, water bodies, and tall structures, and take necessary precautions against lightning. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously due to possible reduced visibility and waterlogging on roads.
