Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning at 3:30 PM on Monday, predicting light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall in some parts of Jajpur and Kendrapara districts within the next three hours.
A similar forecast was issued for Keonjhar and Koraput districts, where light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rainfall are expected during the same period.
The IMD has placed these districts under a ‘Yellow’ alert and advised residents to monitor weather updates and move to safer locations if necessary to avoid lightning strikes.
