Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds over several districts of Odisha.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 12:30 pm today, these weather conditions are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Boudh, Ganjam, Angul, Kandhamal, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal during the next three hours. These districts have been issued yellow alert.
Winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected in the affected areas along with the thunderstorms.
Citizens have been urged to move to safer locations if thunderstorm activity intensifies to protect themselves from lightning strikes and strong winds.
People are also advised to avoid open fields, taking shelter under trees, and using electrical appliances during the thunderstorms.
