Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 20 districts in Odisha, predicting light to moderate thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30-40 kmph in the next three hours.
The affected districts include Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Nayagarh and Gajapati.
The warning, issued at 1:50 pm today, advises people to be vigilant and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Due to the impending weather conditions, light to moderate rain accompanying the thunderstorms. Residents are advised to monitor the weather for worsening conditions and seek shelter if necessary.
