Bhubaneswar: Tigress Zeenat and her four cubs have begun moving within the Similipal Tiger Reserve, forest officials said on Saturday.
The movement of the tigress along with her cubs was confirmed through monitoring systems deployed by the Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities, Odisha, in a post on social media platform X.
According to officials, the cubs are less than two months old and have started accompanying their mother as part of their early developmental stage.
To closely track their movement, wildlife authorities have installed more than 20 camera traps across a 20-km radius inside the reserve. In addition, Zeenat is being monitored through a satellite collar and VHF (Very High Frequency) tracking signals.

Forest officials said a dedicated team is keeping continuous watch over the tigress and her cubs using camera traps placed in the core forest area. Patrolling has also been intensified in adjoining regions of the reserve to ensure their safety and minimize human disturbance.
The coordinated monitoring efforts are aimed at ensuring the well-being of the tigress and her cubs while studying their natural movement patterns within the protected habitat.
