Bhadrak: A group of drunk youths went on a rampage in Bhadrak town, leaving three people seriously injured near the new bus stand on Wednesday night.
According to eyewitnesses, a truck carrying eggs was parked near the new bus stand under the Town police station when a group of tipsy youths came to the driver and demanded money apart from eggs. When the driver refused, they attacked him with sharp weapons. Finding no other go, the truck driver telephoned the transport owner P Basu from Charampa.
When Basu and his two associates arrived, an argument ensued with the youths. The three drunken youths then attacked them with knives and blades, injuring the transport owner, egg trader, and auto driver, who was present there for unloading the eggs.
The trio rushed to the Town police station in the auto-rickshaw to file a complaint in this regard. The injured were rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where two of them were later shifted to Cuttack due to their critical condition.
By the time police reached the spot, the tipsy youths had fled the scene with the transport owner’s bike.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the accused.
