Brahmagiri (Puri): Two boats carrying tourists collided head-on in the middle of Chilika Lake on Monday afternoon, leaving two tourists seriously injured.

According to reports, the injured tourists, a male and a female, sustained head injuries during the collision. They were provided first aid at a nearby public health center before being shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Puri for further treatment.

The incident occurred when eight tourists from Bengal had gone on a boat ride in Chilika Lake from Satapada. During their trip, their boat collided head-on with another tourist boat that was already cruising in the lake.

Eyewitnesses stated that the boatman of one of the boats allegedly lost control, leading to the collision.

The authorities are investigating the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap and to ensure safety measures for future operations.
