Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred at Chilika Lake today when Kushagra Divya, a tourist from Jharkhand, drowned while bathing in the mouth of the lake. Divya was part of a group of 15 employees from a private company in Bhubaneswar, who had come to visit Chilika.

The group had arrived at the new mouth of Chilika-sea confluence point in two boats from Baghamunda Jetty. While bathing, Divya got swept away by the strong currents and drowned.

The Brahmagiri fire brigade was informed, and they reached the spot to recover the body. The Brahmagiri police also arrived and took custody of the body for investigation.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the tourist group.
