Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has issued comprehensive guidelines and a traffic advisory to ensure smooth conduct of immersion ceremony of Goddess Durga idols in Bhubaneswar.
As per the guidelines, the procession for the immersion ceremony is scheduled to commence in Bhubaneswar at 3 pm on Wednesday.
There are three prominent Bhasani Committees in the city – the Bhubaneswar Bhasani Utsav Committee situated in Saheed Nagar, the Rajdhani Mandir Surakshya Bhasani Samiti in Nayapalli, and the Uttar Bhubaneswar Bhasani Committee based in Chandrasekharpur.
All Goddess Durga idols will assemble at their designated locations, namely Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli, and the vicinity adjacent to the IOCL office in Chandrasekharpur. They will then follow the prescribed route for the immersion.
In anticipation of the immersion procession originating from Saheed Nagar, traffic seeking to proceed towards Rupali Square from the Vani Vihar side will be redirected to Acharya Vihar. Importantly, Janpath will be off-limits to all vehicular traffic. Vehicles will be rerouted to Sachivalay Marg and neighbouring roads. These traffic regulations will be in effect from 3 pm or the procession’s starting time, whichever is later, until 1 am or the culmination of the procession, whichever is earlier.
For the immersion procession emerging from Nayapalli, traffic intending to head towards Cuttack from the CRP square side will be rerouted from CRP square to Jaydev Vihar via Ekamra Park and Biju Pattnaik College.
These traffic regulations will be enforced from 3 pm or the procession’s commencement, whichever is later, and will persist until 1 am or until the procession passes CRP square, whichever is earlier.
Furthermore, vehicular traffic along Stewart School Road, Unit-8 road, and OUAT square-New Airport road will be diverted onto adjacent roads.
As for the Uttar Bhubaneswar Bhasani Committee, vehicles aiming to proceed towards Nalco Square from the KIIT side will be rerouted to alternative adjacent roads from Nandankanan – Jayadev Vihar road.
It’s noteworthy that heavy vehicles arriving from the Khurda side and heading towards Bhubaneswar will be diverted at the onset of the Fire Station Over Bridge onto the flyover. The service road will strictly prohibit all vehicular traffic.
These measures have been put in place to facilitate a smooth and orderly Goddess Durga idol immersion ceremony and to minimize disruptions for the public.
