Train Services Disrupted As Soil Under Railway Track Subsides In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Train movement on the Kharagpur-Bhubaneswar section was disrupted and passengers were stranded for hours on Wednesday after a portion of soil subsided under the railway track in Odisha’s Balasore district.

According to reports, the Bhadrak-Kharagpur Memu passenger train was halted near Amara bridge close to Haladipada station as the soil under the track in the downline was washed away due to incessant rains. As a result, train services on that route were suspended while trains on the upline slowed down to 10 km/hour.

After the land subsidence was detected, several passengers alighted from the trains and walked along the tracks to reach their destinations.

Meanwhile, East Coast Railway (ECoR) said that repair work has been undertaken on a war footing.
