Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Wednesday evening confirmed the restoration of train services on Platform No 1 at Cuttack Railway Station, hours after a partial roof collapse disrupted operations.
Train No. 68408 Bhubaneswar–Balasore MEMU was the first to pass through the platform at 7.20 pm, marking the resumption of traffic following the incident.
The disruption occurred around 3.45 pm when a portion of an old wall and roof structure collapsed during ongoing station redevelopment works. The debris blocked railway tracks, affecting train movement on Platforms 1 and 2.
ECoR officials stated that construction activities were being carried out with standard safety measures in place. Despite the incident, no injuries or casualties were reported.
Efforts to clear the debris and restore normal operations began immediately, with services gradually resuming by evening.
