Bhadrak: A 12-year-old tribal minor girl was allegedly assaulted in an attempt to outrage her modesty and kill her in the Agarapada police station area of Bhadrak district on Monday.
According to reports, the girl was found in a bloodied condition with deep injuries on her head and nose. Locals, upon discovering her, immediately rescued the victim and shifted her to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Agarapada Police have registered a case under Sections 205/25 and launched an investigation into the incident.
One person, who reportedly tried to flee the scene when locals arrived, has been apprehended and detained for questioning.
Police said the investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack and whether others were involved.
