Bhawanipatna: The Tribal Union in Kalahandi is observing a bandh in the district from 7 AM to 2 PM today alleging negligence in the reservation of seats for upcoming panchayat elections.
Tribals are protesting in the district headquarters Bhawanipatna and various places of the district against the reduction of reserved seats for members of their community in the upcoming 3-tier panchayat polls.
All government and private offices, shops and markets have been closed and vehicular communication have come to a standstill. The tribals have threatened to boycott the panchayat polls if the government does not change its decision.
