Cuttack: A truck driver had a narrow escape after his vehicle caught fire following a tyre burst on National Highway-55 near Adala in Cuttack district on Friday.
According to reports, the truck, loaded with stone chips, was travelling along the highway when one of its rear tyres suddenly burst. The impact caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which broke through the roadside barricade and veered off the road.
Soon after the accident, a fire broke out inside the truck and spread rapidly. Sensing the danger, the driver managed to jump out of the vehicle in time, escaping without injury.
On being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot and launched an operation to contain the blaze. Although the fire was eventually brought under control, the truck was completely gutted.
No casualties were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, officials said.
