Dhenkanal: An elderly man was killed in an elephant attack at Bhingiri village in Bampha section under Hindol forest division in Dhenkanal district today.
According to reports, Nirupa Samal, a 70-year-old man of Bhingiri village had gone to attend nature’s call in the backyard of his house on Monday. Samal was attacked by a tusker which had strayed into the village.
He was critically injured and died on the way while he was being rushed to the district headquarters hospital here by his family members.
Forest department officials from Hindol have launched an inquiry into the incident.
