Baripada: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a woman, identified as Manka (35), was trampled to death by an elephant in Radhikasol village under Betanati in the Baripada range in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district in the wee hours of Thursday.

Another villager, Dhanu Singh, was injured in the incident.

According to reports, a wild tusker left the Betanti Range area, crossed the National Highway No 18 and entered a village on the periphery of the village at around 3.00 am on Thursday. After damaging a few houses in the village, the tusker entered the house of Sitaram Hansda. It then pulled his wife Manka out of the house with its trunk and trampled the woman to death.
